Start a creative habit

Tell An Outrageous Lie exists to make your creative life easier. If you feel you're not making much headway with a project; if you worry that you procrastinate or you come out in hives at the sight of an empty page, try using the book to start a habit of daily writing (or drawing, photography, dancing, scarf knitting, whatever's your thing).

Each day, set a timer for ten minutes. Open the book, look at the prompt, close the book and start writing (or drawing, dancing etc).  Do not stop until the timer goes off. Don't read back, cross out, or stop to chew your pencil. If your mind goes blank that's good. It means you're not thinking ahead. Simply write 'blah, blah, blah' until something pops into your head. Which it will.

At the end of ten minutes: stop. Close the book and get on with your life. Do the same the next day and the next and watch with delight as your creative output grows.  There are 188 prompts in the book - that's over half a year's worth of creative practice. Enough to make a dent in the biggest creative block.
